A última premiação antes do Oscar, o Independent Spirit Awards, anunciou seus vencedores ontem, quinta-feira, dia 22, em cerimônia totalmente virtual, apresentada pela atriz e comediante Melissa Villaseñor. Desde 1984, o evento é realizado anualmente e se dedica a celebrar a produção de cinema independente.

Nomadland confirmou seu favoritismo, conquistando a vitória em quatro categorias – a principal, de Melhor Filme; Melhor Direção para Chloé Zhao; Melhor Montagem; e Melhor Fotografia. O belo O Som do Silêncio consagrou-se como o Melhor Filme de Estreia e seu protagonista, Riz Ahmed, saiu vitorioso na categoria de Melhor Ator, contrariando as expectativas que indicavam Chadwick Boseman como favorito ao prêmio.

Carey Mulligan foi agraciada com a estatueta de Melhor Atriz por Bela Vingança e, sem surpresas, Yuh-jung Youn arrematou o prêmio de Melhor Atriz Coadjuvante por seu excelente trabalho em Minari. O nosso Bacurau, infelizmente, não se sagrou vencedor, perdendo a disputa em Melhor Filme Internacional par o bósnio Quo Vadis, Aida. Uma Noite em Miami levou o Prêmio Robert Altman (prêmio honorário, entregue a diretor, diretor de elenco e elenco).
