Nesta quinta, 12 de julho, a Academia de Artes e Ciências Televisivas revelou os indicados à 70ª edição do Emmy Awards, maior e mais influente prêmio destinado ao reconhecimento de profissionais da televisão. Os atores Samira Wiley (The Handmaid’s Tale) e Ryan Eggold (New Amsterdam) foram os encarregados de anunciar os nomeados à premiação. Como de costume, a renomada produção da HBO, Game Of Thrones, lidera a lista de indicações, concorrendo em 22 categorias, seguida de perto por outra série da casa, Westworld, e pelo tradicional humorístico Saturday Night Live, que receberam 21 indicações cada. Um feito notável para GoT após sua ausência na disputa da edição do ano passado (o atraso na estreia da sétima temporada a tornou inelegível para o evento). A série já é a mais premiada da história do Emmy e pode bater seu próprio recorde ainda este ano.

A cerimônia de entrega dos prêmios Emmy será realizada em 17 de setembro, no Microsoft Theater, em Los Angeles, contando com a apresentação de Colin Jost e Michael Che do Saturday Night Live. No Brasil, a premiação é transmitida simultaneamente com os Estados Unidos, pela TNT.
